Biography
Bikash is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Montana Technological University. He earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar, India. Before joining Montana Tech, he worked as a research associate at IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT Delhi and later worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Florida State University.
Bikash’s research focuses on fundamental problems in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and computational fluid dynamics, with particular emphasis on complex particle-laden flows, particle transport, and computational aeroacoustics. His research combines computational modeling, numerical simulations, and fundamental principles of fluid mechanics and heat transfer to investigate transport phenomena in complex flow environments.
His work in computational aeroacoustics focuses on understanding the generation and propagation of sound associated with fluid flows. His research in particle-laden flow investigates heat and mass transport and fluid-thermal interactions of particles in advanced manufacturing and environmental fluid dynamics.
Through his research, Bikash is developing fundamental understanding of fluid flow, heat and mass transport, particle dynamics, and fluid-thermal interactions, while addressing engineering and environmental problems with practical significance.
His current research areas include:
- Computational fluid dynamics
- Heat transfer and thermal transport
- Particle-laden and multiphase flows
- Atmospheric boundary-layer flow dynamics
- Wildfire smoke dispersion
- Computational aeroacoustics
- High-Performance Computing
- Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS)
